Disability coverage provides financial support if you’re unable to work.

Overview

The Disability Benefit Program provides protection against the loss of your regular pay if you’re unable to work because of a covered illness or injury. The program is administered by The Hartford. (The Hartford also processes leaves of absence.)

Short-Term Disability (STD)

If you are an hourly employee, your STD coverage provides a weekly benefit of 50% of your pre-disability earnings for up to 26 weeks.

If you are a salaried employee, your STD coverages provides 100% of your pre-disability earnings for the first three weeks and 50% for up to 23 additional weeks.

You don’t have to elect STD coverage — it is provided to you automatically and is paid by RRD. See your Summary Plan Description for details.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

LTD coverage provides a monthly benefit of 50% of your earnings, up to $10,000 a month. You don’t have to elect LTD coverage — it is provided to you automatically and is paid by RRD.

Monthly LTD benefits continue until the earlier of age 65 or the date you are no longer disabled according to the Program. If you become disabled after age 60, your benefits duration schedule may vary. See your Summary Plan Description for details.

LTD Pre-Existing Condition Limitations

For LTD, if the disability starts within the first 12 months after your coverage goes into effect, your LTD coverage does not pay benefits for a disability that is caused, or contributed to, by a pre-existing condition that you have been diagnosed, treated or received medical services for in the prior 15 months (including the three months prior to your coverage effective date). More information can be found in the LTD Plan Summary.
