Death of a Dependent

Last Updated January 27, 2022

If your dependent dies, you can make certain changes to your benefits without having to wait for the next Annual Enrollment.

Overview

You have 30 days to make changes to certain benefits following the death of a dependent (for example, your spouse, domestic partner or child). Otherwise, you will have to wait until the next Annual Enrollment period. You are responsible for making the changes on the enrollment website. Your new coverage will be effective from the date of your dependent’s death.
