4 Ways to Reduce Stress

Last Updated December 8, 2021

According to the American Medical Association, stress is the basic cause of more than 60% of all human illness and disease. Here are four things you can do to help manage your stress level and reduce the negative health effects it can cause.

  1. Eat right
Maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet will give your body the energy it needs to combat stress.
  2. Sleep
Lack of sleep makes a stressful situation worse. Make sure you get plenty of quality shut-eye every night.
  3. Connect with friends
Friends and family are a vital support system, especially during stressful times. Reach out to them for advice, perspective or a sympathetic ear.
  4. Volunteer
Stay active and take your mind off your own problems by helping others. Volunteer in your community, lend a hand at your child’s school, or help a neighbor.
